An evening of spoken word was preceded by an afternoon of eclectic music in the grove: Niger-based band Etan Finatawa, Los Straitjackets with guest dancers the World Famous Pontani Sisters, and Asylum Street Spankers. The evening show included performances by Rod Harrison (as Lord Buckley), Steve Cuiffo (as Lenny Bruce), Melvin Van Peebles reciting a classic Shel Silverstein poem, and the inimitable Sandra Bernhard.
